Marc Brutten is founder and chairman of Westcore Properties. Since the company’s inception in 2000, Marc has overseen its strategic investment in office, retail and industrial properties in key markets around the world–building its domestic and international portfolio to over 24 million square feet and over $2 billion in total asset value.
Marc is recognized as one of the most prolific commercial real estate investors on the west coast. Over the past 30 years, he has facilitated more than $6 billion in property acquisitions totaling over 850 buildings and 40 million square feet. He has been particularly successful in the acquisition of portfolios and properties that require repositioning and aggressive management in order to function more successfully in their respective environments.

Prior to forming Westcore Properties, Marc was president of Shidler West, Inc. Under his direction, the company’s industrial portfolio grew to more than 11.3 million square feet and the company’s asset value grew from $20 million to $800 million.
Marc started measuring his investment performance in 1993 and over the last 22 years, his audited unlevered investment return is 22% per annum.

Marc is involved in numerous professional and community organizations including National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP), Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR), and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
Marc is also a member of the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate’s Policy Advisory Board Executive Committee at USD. He is a regent at Boston College and a trustee at his alma mater, the University of California, San Diego.

Don Ankeny is President and Chief Executive Officer of Westcore Properties.
He leads the company’s portfolio of Industrial properties, which currently totals more than 9 million square feet.
Additionally, Don plays a key role in the company’s business strategy, utilizing his strong real estate and capital markets’ expertise to grow the company’s investment and operating platform.

Don’s real estate background includes starting and overseeing the real estate group of Robertson Stephens, a global investment banking firm that was acquired by Bank of America and later by Bank Boston. Under his leadership, the firm was engaged in many of the country’s significant public and private real estate transactions.
Prior to Robertson Stephens, Don was a partner with Trammell Crow Company.

Don graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College with a distinction in economics. He also holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Don is a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP) and a Gold council member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI).
He is a former trustee of the Bishop’s School in La Jolla, CA where he chaired the Finance and Investment Committee as well as the School’s Endowment Campaign.
Don is a member of the Parents Advisory Board at Stanford University.
He is also a past recipient of the San Diego Business Journal’s CEO of the Year award and EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year award.

Hack is responsible for identifying industrial investment opportunities throughout Southern California, Phoenix, Salt Lake, Las Vegas, and Denver as well as maintaining oversight of the leasing efforts of Westcore Properties’ Southern California portfolio. During his tenure at Westcore Properties, Hack has been intimately involved in more than 40 transactions in excess of $2.5 billion in transaction volume and over 700 lease transactions totaling more than $300 million in gross consideration.

Prior to joining the Westcore team in 2009, Hack was a partner at Murphy Development Company, a leasing manager for Westfield America, one of California’s largest retail development companies. He has also held positions with Realty Income Corporation, Retail Insite Commercial Real Estate and CBRE.

Hack is a past president of the San Diego Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP) and affiliated with several professional organizations including the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR), the Coggan Family Aquatic Complex and several youth sports organizations. Hack is also a member of the facilities board for the Santa Fe Christian School.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Peter Mette is a Director of Acquisitions for Northern California and the Pacific Northwest for Westcore Properties.
With more than 25 years of experience in commercial real estate, Peter has acquired more than $1.5 billion of real estate encompassing over 7 million square feet of office and industrial space.

Prior to joining Westcore Properties, Peter was a Director at Deutsche Asset and Wealth Management responsible for acquisitions in Southern California and a Senior Vice President at KBS Realty Advisors responsible for acquisitions in Northern California and the Pacific Northwest.

He holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Georgia State University.

As of early 2017, Mike Metzger has helped establish our new Westcore Los Angeles office and has transitioned into the Director of Acquisitions role for Westcore Properties, focusing on investments in the Greater Los Angeles market.
Mike brings 10 years of experience within the commercial real estate industry, splitting his time as a commercial broker with CBRE, specializing in Industrial & Logistics Brokerage Services within the Greater Sacramento Region, prior to joining Westcore in 2013.

Mike served as President of the Board of Directors for the Association of Commercial Real Estate (ACRE.com) in Sacramento, as well as being heavily involved with the Sacramento Regional Council for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the American Cancer Society.
He also played NCAA Division 1 Baseball at UCLA and USD, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Business Administration from the University of San Diego.

As Senior Director of Leasing at Westcore Properties, Bryan is responsible for the repositioning, leasing and tenant retention for the company’s assets in Northern California and the Pacific Northwest.
Since joining Westcore Properties, Bryan has actively worked on more than 10 million square feet of leasing in the last three years and has assisted in the acquisition and disposition of more than forty properties with a focus in Northern California.

Before joining Westcore Properties in 2013, Bryan spent 15 years at CBRE as an office broker and currently serves as an active member of Lambda Alpha International, and the NAIOP National Leasing Forum.

Bryan also serves as Board Chair of the San Juan Education Foundation, and as an Officer in the Knights of Columbus, Youth Soccer and Basketball Coach and enjoys golfing, writing magazine articles and horse racing in his free time.

He holds an A.B. from Harvard University.

As Director of Leasing, Lauren is responsible for Westcore’s leasing efforts within its 6.0 million square foot portfolio in the greater Southern California area.
Lauren focuses on effectively repositioning assets, leasing up vacancies in partnership with third-party brokers, and tenant retention.
Lauren is also involved in the disposition process; and has successfully coordinated sale transactions to institutional owners as well as owner-users.

During her tenure at Westcore Properties, Lauren has been intimately involved with more than 600 lease transactions totaling more than $350 million in lease consideration and over 30 dispositions. Lauren has successfully leased several properties to 100% occupancy and maintained high occupancy levels.

Prior to joining the Westcore team in 2009, Lauren worked at Cushman & Wakefield and Burnham Real Estate. Prior to that, Lauren was with a local San Diego multi-family development company.

Lauren is involved in the Developing Leaders Council of the San Diego Chapter of the National Association of Office and Industrial Properties (NAIOP), and the University of San Diego Undergraduate Mentorship Program.

She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from the University of San Diego, graduating cum laude.
