Westcore Hires Andrew Burke as CEO

Westcore, a leading fully integrated, industrial-focused private equity firm, has hired industrial real estate veteran Andrew “Andy” Burke as chief executive officer. Burke succeeds Don Ankeny, who will retire after 20 successful years as CEO. Burke will lead the entrepreneurial company from its San Diego headquarters.

Westcore currently manages separate accounts for state pension funds and insurance companies. Burke will create new capital relationships in the fund business, explore development opportunities and expand Westcore’s geographic focus to additional markets in the U.S.

“Andy has tremendous experience with major public and private companies,” said Ankeny. “I know he will accelerate Westcore’s growth and build upon our two-decade legacy of out-performance for our investors, our customers and our employees.”

Westcore owns and operates over 25 million square feet of industrial properties in 13 states. Building uses include e-commerce, last mile logistics, manufacturing and small- and mid-bay warehouse.

Most recently, Burke led Tishman Speyer’s global industrial platform, setting the strategy while raising and investing capital across the US and Europe. He also spent 14 years at Terreno Realty Corporation (NYSE: TRNO) as an executive vice president. Burke was on the original management team that established Terreno’s national platform and took the company public in 2010. At Terreno, Burke oversaw acquisitions, dispositions, development, asset management and operations of industrial properties in New York, New Jersey, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington D.C.

He also held investment positions at AMB Property Corporation (now Prologis), Sun Microsystems and Fidelity Investments.

“Westcore has earned a stellar reputation in our industry,” said Burke. “I am honored for the opportunity to carry on Don’s legacy. I’m excited to lead this remarkable team and continue to drive growth and innovation.”
