Marc Brutten

Founder and Chairman

Marc Brutten is founder and chairman of Westcore. Since the company’s inception in 2000, Marc has overseen its strategic investment in industrial properties in key markets around the world–building its domestic and international portfolio to over 25 million square feet and over $4.5 billion in total asset value.

Marc is recognized as one of the most prolific commercial real estate investors on the west coast. Over the past 30 years, he has facilitated more than $7 billion in property acquisitions totaling over 900 buildings and 40 million square feet. He has been particularly successful in the acquisition of portfolios and properties that require repositioning and aggressive management in order to function more successfully in their respective environments.

Prior to forming Westcore Properties, Marc was president of Shidler West, Inc. Under his direction, the company’s industrial portfolio grew from 100,000 square feet to more than 11.3 million square feet and the company’s asset value grew from $20 million to $800 million. Marc started measuring his investment performance in 1993 and over the last 22 years, his audited unlevered investment return is 22% per annum.

Don Ankeny is President and Chief Executive Officer of Westcore. He oversees all aspects of the company’s strategy, daily operations, and capital relationships. Prior to joining Westcore, Don’s real estate background includes starting and overseeing the real estate group of Robertson Stephens, a global investment banking firm that was acquired by Bank of America and later by Bank Boston. Prior to Robertson Stephens, Don was a partner with Trammell Crow Company.

Don graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College with a distinction in economics. He also holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Don is a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP) and a Gold council member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI). He is a former trustee of the Bishop’s School in La Jolla, CA where he chaired the Finance and Investment Committee as well as the School’s Endowment Campaign. Don is a past recipient of the San Diego Business Journal’s CEO of the Year award, EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year award, and Real Estate Forum’s Best Bosses in the Business award.


Matthew Bateman

Matthew Bateman

Matthew focuses on operations, strategy, culture, and internal education (Westcore University). He has direct oversight of asset management, construction, property management and insurance. He also works closely with the leasing and transactions teams. He started at Westcore in 2004 as Associate Acquisitions Manager and grew with the company to become the COO.

Before joining Westcore, Matthew was a commercial broker with Grubb & Ellis in Los Angeles. He has also worked in the technology and snowboard industries. Matthew took a two-year “sabbatical” from Westcore to run operations for an owner of 15,000 multifamily units. He returned with renewed enthusiasm for Westcore and its future.

Matthew has a passion for teaching and learning. He received a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the University of Southern California. In 2008, he created Westcore University to better expose all team members to the inner workings of Westcore. He is also a regular guest lecturer at University of San Diego in the master’s in real estate program.

General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

Romy Selati Loseke serves as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Westcore, providing legal oversight for corporate governance and for the company’s growing U.S. portfolio. Romy brings over 25 years of corporate and real estate legal experience (both domestic and abroad) with specialization in complex commercial real estate, investment, and finance transactions.

Prior to joining Westcore, Romy served as associate general counsel for Md7, LLC, a wireless telecommunications real estate management company. At Md7, Romy spearheaded the legal direction of the company’s global real estate leasing programs and worked alongside the largest wireless telecommunications operators in the U.S. and Europe. She also managed corporate governance, international expansion, litigation matters, and internal training and policies. Romy’s previous experience includes San Diego-based law firms Hillyer & Irwin and Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek. Romy also served as special counsel for Solomon Ward Seidenwurm & Smith, where she was sole outside real estate counsel for Barbeques Galore, an international retailer.

Romy earned a Juris Doctorate from Boston College Law School and a Bachelor of Arts, Magna Cum Laude, from Emory University.

As Chief Financial Officer at Westcore, Michael focuses on the development and execution of the firm’s capital markets and investment strategies. Michael also oversees all aspects of firm’s corporate finance, accounting, information technology and investor relations activities.

Michael is a member of Westcore’s Investment Committee and plays a key role in the structuring, capitalization and management of the firm’s various investment vehicles.

Prior to Westcore, Michael held finance positions with DJO Global, a Blackstone Group portfolio company, Sony Electronics (NYSE: SNE) and holds a B.S. degree in Finance from Virginia Tech Pamplin College of Business


Hack Adams

Hack Adams

Sr. Managing Director

Hack is responsible for identifying industrial opportunities throughout Southern California, Phoenix, Salt Lake, Las Vegas, Denver, Dallas and North Carolina as well as maintaining oversight of the leasing efforts across Westcore’s portfolio.

During his tenure at Westcore, Hack has completed more than 90 transactions in excess of $7 billion in transaction volume and over 950 lease transactions totaling more than $850 million in gross consideration.

Has is a past president of the San Diego Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP) and currently sits on the Executive Committee. In addition, he is affiliated with the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR). Hack also sits on the Board of Directors for Santa Fe Christian Schools and in intimately involved with a San Diego based charity, Seeds of Hope.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.


Peter Mette

Managing Director

Peter Mette is a Managing Director for Northern California and the Pacific Northwest for Westcore Properties.
With more than 25 years of experience in commercial real estate, Peter has acquired more than $1.5 billion of real estate encompassing over 7 million square feet of office and industrial space.

Prior to joining Westcore Properties, Peter was a Director at Deutsche Asset and Wealth Management responsible for acquisitions in Southern California and a Senior Vice President at KBS Realty Advisors responsible for acquisitions in Northern California and the Pacific Northwest.

He holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Georgia State University.


Matt Frey

As Vice President of Construction, Matt oversees all active construction projects. This includes management oversight, forecasting, budgeting, scheduling and the overall repositioning of assets.
Additionally, he works alongside the acquisitions, property management, and leasing teams for capital planning and to determine the construction requirements for each property.

Prior to joining Westcore, Matt was a Project Manager for JMI Realty, LLC. He has an in-depth background and understanding of the building industry and construction details through his 20+ year tenure in the business.
Before joining JMI, Matt worked for some of San Diego’s largest construction firms and built an impressive resume of projects across multiple market sectors totaling over 2 million Square Feet of commercial improvements that amount to over $500 million of in-place work.

Matt graduated from California State University, Chico with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management.


Lauren Suazo

Lauren Suazo

Vice President, Leasing

As Vice President, Leasing, Lauren is responsible for Westcore’s leasing efforts, specifically within its California, Arizona, Colorado, Salt Lake City, Pacific Northwest and Midwest Portfolios. Lauren focuses on effectively repositioning assets, leasing up vacancies in partnership with third party brokers, and tenant retention. Lauren is also involved in the disposition process; successfully completing sale transactions to institutional owners as well as owner-users.

Lauren joined the Westcore team in 2009. She is currently on the Board of the San Diego Chapter for National Association of Office and Industrial Properties (NAIOP). Lauren is also an active mentor for the University of San Diego, Center for Real Estate, Undergraduate Mentorship Program.

She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from the University of San Diego, graduating cum laude, and is a licensed real estate Broker in the state of California.


Nick Markos

Vice President, Asset Management

As Vice President, Asset Management for Westcore Properties since 2015, Nick oversees all asset management functions for Westcore’s national portfolio. He is currently responsible for the management and operation of over 17 million square feet of real estate across the U.S. valued at over $2.6 billion and has been actively involved in acquisitions and dispositions totaling over $2.5 billion. Nick is also responsible for Westcore’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) programs and chairs Westcore’s ESG Committee.

Prior to joining Westcore, Nick served as Senior Asset Manager with the Port of San Diego, where he specialized in industrial, maritime, and commercial real estate asset management for some of Southern California’s most valuable waterfront property, including a 135-acre industrial marine terminal, three major shipyards, the San Diego Convention Center, multiple convention hotels, and over 200,000 sf of waterfront retail. Nick successfully entitled and/or assisted towards development of the proposed San Diego Convention Center Expansion project, a 500-room expansion of a major convention hotel, two new 400-room waterfront hotels, and a retail historic rehabilitation project.

Nick is an active member of NAIOP and the University of San Diego Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate’s Mentorship Program. Nick is an IASSC Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt holder and a certified Argus Power User. He holds a Master’s of Science in Real Estate from the University of San Diego and a BA from the University of San Diego.


Lori Jasinski

Lori Jasinski

Vice President, Property Management

As Vice President of Property Management, Lori is responsible for oversight of the company’s Property Management personnel and establishment and implementation of strategies, processes and objectives related to Property Management involvement with transactions and asset management. She is also focused on developing and maintaining relationships with key tenants, vendors and third-party associates on a national level.

As a third-party manager for Cushman & Wakefield, Lori previously managed Westcore’s Southern California portfolio including 4.5 million square feet of Industrial and Office properties located in California, Arizona and Utah.

Prior to moving to San Diego and working with Westcore, Lori worked directly for a retail developer, River Oaks Properties, in El Paso, Texas and for PM Realty Group in Houston, Texas for 14 years.

Lori is a primary volunteer for Frosted Faces Foundation, a San Diego based non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing senior animals from shelters and providing them with lifelong veterinary care and the love of a forever family.


London Adams

As Director of Human Resources at Westcore Properties, London Adams oversees all aspects of the company’s HR department, including compensation and benefits, recruiting, training and development, performance management, and employee relations. London has a breadth of industry experience within sectors such as manufacturing, construction and healthcare, all exceedingly regulated environments. He finds job satisfaction in creating an engaging and rewarding environment for employees to become true brand ambassadors.

Prior to joining Westcore, London served as HR Manager for Industrial Commercial Systems and Summit Electrical, where his center of focus was on the training, retention, and attraction of all levels of highly skilled trade professionals in an ever fluctuating competitive market. London also worked for Breg, Inc., one of the fastest growing healthcare manufacturers in the nation where he was awarded the title of cultural ambassador, responsible for developing and implementing culture and engagement initiatives company wide.

London has been an active member with the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) since 2014, volunteer at the San Diego North County Food Bank and donor to the University of Oklahoma Inspiring Champions Fund.


Sam Levy

Director of Debt Capital Markets

As Director of Debt Capital Markets, Sam Levy has closed over $1 Billion in new debt for Westcore with over a dozen different lenders. In addition to sourcing debt and maintaining investor and lender relationships, he is responsible for negotiating loan documents and term sheets and for developing strategies across portfolios.

Sam brings over a decade of experience in capital markets and business & real estate law. He has relationships with hundreds of lenders across the U.S. and has originated Billions of dollars in commercial debt throughout his career.

Before joining Westcore in 2022, Sam served as a Vice President of Slatt Capital and Pacific Southwest Realty Services where he arranged financing for sophisticated investors through a wide variety of capital sources, including Banks, CMBS, Life Insurance Companies, Agencies, and Debt Funds.

Prior to that, Sam practiced law as a business and real estate attorney for several years. He represented real estate developers and banks in both litigation and transactional settings. Sam also handled matters before the United States Tax Court.

Sam received a BA in Economics from San Diego State University, and a JD from McGeorge School of Law where he graduated in the top 10% of his class, earning membership in the Order of the Coif.


Andrew Pascale

As Director of Acquisitions at Westcore, Andrew is responsible for sourcing and executing investment opportunities throughout Georgia and Florida.

Prior to joining Westcore in 2021, Andrew was a Senior Associate at Newmark in the Capital Markets group, where he was involved in over $600 million of office, industrial, and life science transactions.

Andrew holds his real estate license in the state of California and is an active member of NAIOP where he served on the Developing Leader’s Council (San Diego Chapter) in 2022.

Andrew graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Santa Clara University, where he was a Miller Center Fellow.


Daniel Tyson

As Portfolio Manager, Daniel is responsible for the overall performance of Westcore’s Open-End fund strategy. He works alongside the capital markets, asset management, leasing, and construction management teams to maximize value to the fund’s stakeholders. Additionally, he is responsible for investor relations, financial reporting, and portfolio allocation.

Daniel joined Westcore in 2015 and has held roles in the acquisitions, leasing, and asset management departments.Daniel is an active member of the NAIOP San Diego chapter as well as the Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County.

Daniel played NCAA Division 1 Baseball at Northwestern University, where he earned a B.A. in Economics. Daniel also received an MBA from the UC San Diego Rady School of Management.


Derek Alexander

Derek has been involved in more than 400 commercial real estate leasing transactions for an aggregate value of $210 million in various Texas markets. While primarily focused in the office sector, he’s leased portfolios that have also had a mix of industrial and retail projects.

Derek’s portfolio for Westcore’s Texas, Georgia, and Florida markets consists of 4.4 million square feet. His approach to business focuses on his value for integrity, hard work, teamwork, and his dedication toward satisfying his clients’ best interests, while striving to understand their perspective and position.

His previous marketing and leasing responsibilities consisted of building relationships with real estate owners and users throughout Texas markets. In addition, Derek was responsible for coordinating architectural and construction meetings, preparing sales reports as well as leasing proposals and documents, projecting future income and capital budgets, negotiating with prospective tenants and their legal counsel, and providing up-to-date progress reports for his clients.

Derek is a member of the North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors (NTCAR). He’s also a member of the Northern Star Masonic Lodge #377 and a DeMolay of the Grand Prairie Chapter.
